Lesson 2 Challenge
A patron comes to me with the idea their Facebook account was hacked. I would listen to their issue trying to ascertain their concerns. I would then explain that the library and Facebook are very concerned with security and I'd lead them to the help area of Facebook specifically the area concerning security. I would suggest they change their password and report their suspicions to Facebook. I would explain the concept of creating complicated passwords to make it difficult for hackers to obtain.

Learning about blogging has been one of the biggest take away for me. I also really enjoyed learning about the government sites. Many of which I use without the convenience of having them all together in one libguide. I look forward to learning more about libguides. I've had the opportunity to learn how to use the new libguides 2. I'd like to learn how to create a web elearning opportunity such as this.
Fantastical!

Lesson 10 Challenge
Mobile access to government sites is extremely helpful and makes government more accessible for the constituents. The library was very smart to create the mobile app. Patrons need access to their accounts online and access to information that impacts their everyday lives. Driver records and license renewal information is quite common access request at the library. Patrons can access the valuation of their property through the Bexar County Appraisal District. This helps them be knowledgeable about their property values and prepare cases to help them present evidence for property re-evaluation. As far as mobile access to government making people more or less democratic is up to them. Information in and of itself is information. What people choose to do with the information is up to them. In a positive world one would hope that the information would be liberating and used for positive motives. Knowledge is power.

Lesson 8 Part 2 Challenge
Locating audio books through Overdrive was fairly easy. It took me a few moments to locate an audio book that I was interested in listening to. I had to search several different ways and settled on Fannie Flagg's Welcome to the World Baby Girl. When I tried to do the same type of search on One Click Digital the title wasn't there and neither was the author. In order to find anything to check out in One Click Digital I had to basically browse. The titles in One Click Digital through SAPL aren't as prolific as the number of holdings in Overdrive. One advantage to One Click over Overdrive is the Pimsleur Language offerings. Overdrive doesn't have the language titles that One Click offers. I wished SAPL had the Mango Languages that Bibliotech offers however that would be a duplication of services that the county probably wouldn't want to give up.

Lesson 6 Part 2 Challenge
Social Networking can have many negative effects. It is easy to create erroneous information, perpetuate wrong information, and be used to bully people. Social Media can be used as a tool to make public information that might be considered private for some.
Lesson 6 Part 1 Challenge
Social networking lead me to a relationship that resulted in marriage. I remember the BBS, AOL, Compuserve. It is amazing that computing and social networking have evolved so quickly. Now with Skype, Facebook, and Classmates.com I am able to help organize our 30 year class reunion coming up this summer.
Lesson 5 Challenge
The Key Word Challenges were a bit tougher than I thought. However, I am usually able to figure out what I'm looking for after a few tries. It's a good lesson in how to refine searches to best help the customer and ourselves in the quickest amount of time.
Lesson 3 Part 2 Challenge
Libguides have become invaluable in my everyday work life. The millennium libguide helps inform staff about policies and procedures concerning circulation, creating cards, and managing customer accounts. The pharos libguide answers staff questions about the Pharos Nerve Center and Paying and releasing print jobs from Pharos Remote. Marketing has a libguide that includes templates for upcoming library events.
Lesson 3 Part 1 Challenge
A lady was wondering if Abraham Lincoln was her long lost grandfather so we used Biography in Context and Ancestry to search out her family history and a little more about Abraham Lincoln. When she was finished and proceeded to leave she realized her tires were flat and needed to learn how to change a flat tire. We used the Chilton database to help her locate the information. She decided that she didn't want to do it herself since she'd just had a manicure. She called AAA. They were here in a flash, changed her tire, and she was on her way again.

Word has been instrumental in my work at the library. It allows quick creation of informational resources, signs, sign in sheets. It is a tool I use almost daily. It allows the user to insert images, format text, change font sizes, bold, italicize, underline words, characters, etc for emphasis. In this informational sign I was able to center the picture and text, change the font and size of characters. We needed this sign to indicate that the VITA site was full for the day and to give options for other sites.
Lesson 1 Part 3 Challenge
I'm new to blogging. Not quite sure how this will play out in my day to day life. My experiences with blogging have dealt mostly with searching for answers to questions I have in my every day life reference questions. A friend has recently started a blog concerning the experiences with his bakery business. It will take quite a bit of time. It is an interesting means of conveying information.
